User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 GTB7.1 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 GTB7.1 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729) The summary says it all, epic failure with Firefox running quicktime plug-in. Evidently has to do with a server side setting, see: http://www.techsupportforum.com/alternative-computing/mozilla-firefox-browsers/246970-solved-firefox-quicktime-plugin-problem.html But if IE and Chrome clients can handle it flawlessly, why not Firefox? My website users are getting truncated audio and I don't know how to help them (since my hosting service is being obstreperous.) Thanks, joel Reproducible: Always Actual Results: short audio! Expected Results: Played the audio in its entirety See the URL above, or do your own google search on the issue.
Can you provide a public Link where the Issue can be reproduced? If not, it's likely this ends as INCOMPLETE ....
>But if IE and Chrome clients can handle it flawlessly, why not Firefox? Because that doesn't matter in the first place. The question is if this is a server bug,a client bug or a qt bug. We need an example page (URL) and which qt version are you using ?

Hi, every audio file on this site (which I publish) is affected: http://www.sephardicmusic.org/ Example: http://www.sephardicmusic.org/labels/Odeon/54469/A_la_una_nassi_io.sample.mp3 I am running Quicktime version 7.6.8 & Firefox 3.6.13 Meanwhile, it turns out that Chrome will not play song samples from this site at all. But IE will. So yes, I know that there is a server setting at my hosting company that may be interfering (see the online discussion I pointed to in my initial post), but also yes, IE is able to handle the downloads anyway, and Firefox is not. Hope this helps. JB
Hmm, with QT Plugin Version 7.6.9.0 + Firefox 3.6.13 & Firefox/4.0b9pre ID:20110104030354 this is WFM at least on WinXP. Would a NPAPI or Network Log help here for somebody who can repro the Issue?
>IE is able to handle the downloads anyway You don't know if Gecko fails or the QT NPAPI Plugin while the ActiveX one works. You know that the IE plugin is a complete different one (ActiveX) and all other browsers are using NPAPI Plugins ? Anyway this seems to be WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b9pre) Gecko/20110104 Firefox/4.0b9pre SeaMonkey/2.1b2pre and QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.9 (QT lite) I get a ~20s+ long audio stream but I don't know if that is enough because you failed to describe your problem in this report ! Please update your QT Plugin to the latest version and clear the Firefox disk cache and try it again.
Hi, I am sorry you think I "failed to describe your problem in this report !" I thought I had. I am trying to get you the information you need to evaluate it -- just ask!! The link provided earlier http://www.sephardicmusic.org/labels/Odeon/54469/A_la_una_nassi_io.sample.mp3 should play for 102 seconds (as you will see if you try it in IE.) It plays for ~five seconds for me locally, running 7.6.8. I just upgraded to QT 7.6.9 and cleared my cache at your suggestion and tried again. Same result in Firefox and Chrome, i.e., no improvement. Still works in IE. Hope this helps. JB

When there is more than one media object on a page, play is not continuous on some of the objects. I recently tried FF 4 Beta 11, and the problem had disappeared - but then FF 4 Release Candidate 2 appeared on my machine and nothing worked any more. So I created a test case and submitted a bug report. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=643327 The following link is to a test page with multiple 14 mp3 sound objects. There are 3 variations of the page - 0x0 px controls, 1x1 px controls, and 200x16 px controls (follow the links). To play a soundbite, click anywhere in the rectangle. http://sontag.ca/soundboards/Losers.html This page works for me (Windows XP system) using IE, Chrome, Opera, Safari. It also worked for Firefox 4 Beta 11 but stopped working in FireFox Beta 12 and the latest FF 4 Release Candidate. The FF 4 RC version is a bit strange - the control needs a dimension to work - so a 1x1 px control will work but not a 0x0 control. Since Opera, Chrome and Safari all use the same Quicktime plugin (I have 7.6.9 installed) I think it is pretty clear that Firefox is the problem here. There has been a problem in FF 3.6 for some time now, but it remain unresolved. Cheers JS
