User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; ja; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0b9pre) Gecko/20110105 Thunderbird/3.3a2pre Build ID: 20110105030012 If right click when focusing out of the message pain and mouse pointer is on the message pain, then doesn't move focus but show message pain's context menu. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.open compose window(focus on the 'To:' field on the header pain). 2.move mouse pointer to message pain. 3.right click Actual Results: doesn't move mouse focus to message pain, but show message pain's context menu. Expected Results: move focus to message pain and show message pain's context menu, or stay focus and show header pain's context menu. Same results on:(Miramar 3.3a1, TB 3.1.7) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101116 Thunderbird/3.3a1 Build ID: 20101116152258, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; ja; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101207 Thunderbird/3.1.7 Build ID: 20101207091341 But expected results on:(TB 3.0.11) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; ja; rv:1.9.1.16) Gecko/20101125 Thunderbird/3.0.11 Build ID: 20101125144718. (move focus to message pain and show message pain's context menu) p.s. for this bug, my developing extension's context menu is broken... ;-(
so do you have the issue in -safe-mode !
Summary: Doesn't move focus when right clicking on the message pain, compose window. → Doesn't move focus when right clicking on the message pane, compose window.
(In reply to comment #1) > so do you have the issue in -safe-mode ! Yes, same results in -safe-mode (without windows power-toys X-Mouse, wheel redirector application). N.G.: Shredder, Miramar, TB 3.1 OK : TB 3.0 on Windows(XP) only, may be... to other people, Please check this issue on other version of Windows, or platforms. p.s. I'm very sorry for misspelling in summary and Comment #0 ... wrong: pain right: pane
Sorry, it isn't appropriate about my description and STR. (In reply to comment #0) > If right click when focusing out of the message pain and mouse pointer is on > the message pain, then doesn't move focus but show message pain's context menu. This "message pane" means message body field in compose window. > Steps to Reproduce: > 1.open compose window(focus on the 'To:' field on the header pain). > 2.move mouse pointer to message pain. 2. move mouse pointer to message body field in compose window. > 3.right click ... and if you don't install extension which adding menu item for context menu, there are only small difference between To:, Subject: and message body field context menu. So please check carefully.
I meant Thunderbird's safe mode sorry see http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
(In reply to comment #4) > I meant Thunderbird's safe mode sorry see > http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode I'd checked in safe mode, comment #2 is in TB's safe-mode results. (without...) sentences mean, exception of other mouse utilities' effect, only.
This might be by design. Could you expand a bit why you would want the menu to be where the focus is and not where the click is happening ?
Bryan ?
(In reply to comment #8) > Bryan ? This is by design, though the focus on different areas does create somewhat of a strange effect this happens everywhere in the application. We couldn't create a fix here (if we felt it was an issue) without changing most other pieces of Thunderbird.
I'd be surprised if this weren't a duplicate (and I like surprises). Might be described in different terms

(In reply to comment #10) > I'd be surprised if this weren't a duplicate (and I like surprises). > Might be described in different terms Probably!, but usully I remember bugs that mentioning "right click on folder list node..." and not messages pane: in anyway, for me, this is Invalid because is the default behavior on (for example) Windows OS (xref bug #448328 comment #7). For example, on Windows OS, clicking on a treeview node (as I suppose TB messages pane is) with right mouse button, don't select the node also if the node is highlited!
