For a while I could not send a particular piece of mail (didn't occur to me to try sending a test mail). Took me forever to track down the problem: For some reason, when I attached a file, rather than showing up as cereal.jpg, it showed up as cereal-4.jpg. Apparently, when I clicked the send button, mozilla couldn't find the attachment, and failed silently. It left me staring at the same screen. No warnings at all. I guess, though there might be two bugs here. One with attachment selection/management, and another dealing with silent mail sending failures. Hope I put this on the right component... :) screech

fixing up summary a little (typo) I observed the same thing as a side-effect in bug 61440 (didn't mention it though) but for each time i tried to send, the filename on attachment was "incremented" and became originalfile-1.jpg, originalfile-2,jpg etc etc. Changing OS to all, confirming bug.

incremental renaming of filename started when i copied the mail from the sendt-folder it had erronously landed in (which is the bug i filed) to another accounts draft-folder, reopened and tried to send again. The folder as such doesn't have anything to do with it. Seems to be internal copying getting too creative. Should be fixed, - recipients may be expecting a certain filename but receive another, which likely will cause some uneeded work/traffic. Attachments are spooky enough these days.
