Josh, can you try to download it from http://people.mozilla.org/~fdesre/extensions/ ?
google code adds a content-disposition header with the value |attachment; filename="crashme-new.xpi"| that probably causes this. I get the same result on a desktop firefox (minefield) build.

I was able to duplicate this error with this installation link: http://ted.mielczarek.org/mozilla/crashme-new.xpi
Fabrice's link yielded a page that linked to the download crashme.xpi.
1. Click crashme.xpi.
2. Click allow as per the prompt.
3. Error message appeared in a box stating that Crash Me Now! could not be installed because it is not compatible with Nightly 35.0a1.
4. I was prompted to update Nightly and restarted the browser.
5. I went through the process again and the bug persisted.

This bug is filed against a long dead product. From your screenshot, that looks like desktop Firefox. Check for bugs against Firefox on Desktop.

Hi, Aaron. I ran this test on a recent Firefox Nightly release. It's unstable but definitely not an old version. https://nightly.mozilla.org/

I filed this bug against Mobile Firefox on the old Nokia n900 phone, which is what Aaron is referring to. Bugs are cheap; no need to reuse them for similar symptoms.
