User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:2.0b9pre) Gecko/20110106 Firefox/4.0b9pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0b9pre) Gecko/20110110 Thunderbird/3.3a2pre When mail.imap.expunge_after_delete = true then: - deleting a message via [del] initiates expunge as expected :-) - deleting a message via [shift]+[del] does not initiate expunge :-( Reproducible: Always Actual Results: [shift]+[del] should also initiate expunge.
IIRC, mail.imap.expunge_after_delete=true currently expunges "move source folder of deleted mail" only. - "move to trash" model only (copy to trash, store \Deleted flag & expunge). Expunge is not issued if "Just mark it as deleted ", "remove immediately". (store \Deleted flag only). It's known issue. - ordinal delete only(move to trash) with "move to trash" model. Shift+Delete is "store \Deleted flag" only. (this bug) - Delete at Trash is "store \Deleted flag" only. (your bug 624841) Unless copy of deleted mail is saved other place(Trash if delete), "undo delete by move back from Trash" is impossible if expunge is automatically executed when "store \Deleted flag" only, and, automatic expunging has no sense if "Just mark is as deleted" model. I think it's the reason of current implementation.
