The AppCoast team is almost done with updating Personas Plus, but because of how the new add-on bar works we need to get the Personas Plus firstrun page updated.

Specifically, the firstrun page has a bubble that appears at the bottom of the page that points to where the Personas icon was on the left-hand side of the status bar. Now, however, the Personas icon appears on the right-hand side of the add-on bar, so the bubble needs to be changed to point at the new location.

If that's clear as mud, let me know and I'll attach a screenshot of the specific thing I mean.

This will only apply to Firefox 4 users, not Firefox 3.6 and earlier.
I think this was supposed to be in getpersonas.com. Moving...
Component: getfirebug.com → getpersonas.com

What are the pixel dimensions from the lower right hand corner?
Not sure what you mean by "pixel dimensions from the lower right corner". The button placement is displayed in this picture; this is 1:1. Notice how the scrollbars can be troublesome.
Personas Plus is just about ready to release for Firefox 4, but we need the firstrun page updated so the bubble is in the right place for Fx4 users. I'll try to figure out the pixel location for the button and will post here.
Looks like the bubble pointer should be at around 19-20px from the right hand edge of the page (slightly less than halfway through the fox button). That's on Mac, at least -- I don't have a Windows machine handy to check the measurements there.

Added a new screenie since the button has moved since the old one was taken.
Wil rightfully pointed out that pixel-perfect pointers aren't going to work, since the icon could end up basically anywhere on the add-on bar.

The other content in the page also needs to be updated (also pointed out by Wil), so I will come up with something to deal with both of these things (hoping for just a simple content change) and post here. Before end of day tomorrow if at all possible.

(ps: thanks Wil)
Ok...quick content update. Hopefully we can do all this stuff -- if not, let me know and I'll sort something else out.

Leave the "Check it out!" bubble

The "Thanks for installing..." headline needs to change to:
  "Thanks for installing Personas Plus, the easiest way to do more with your Firefox Personas!"

Leave the green "Browse the Gallery" button and the "Watch the video" stuff.

Replace middle three columns with two (one wide, one narrow):

== Featured Personas ==
* Embed http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/external/mozilla/
  (just a headline & the embedded thingy)

== Customize your Firefox ==
* New to Personas Plus? Look for the fox mask in your Add-on bar!

* Check out the Personas gallery, or create your own Personas!
  ("Personas gallery" links to http://www.getpersonas.com)
  ("Create your own" links to http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/demo_create)

* Need help with Personas? Head over to the Firefox Support community and search the knowledge base, or ask a question!

Oh, and just lose the pointer bubble.

I can't think of a way to do that properly, and it's not really super useful any more. Add-ons bar opens automatically if the user has never intentionally closed it before, but if they have closed it it doesn't automatically open on install. And the icon can end up pretty much anywhere on it.

FYI: I have some progress on this but I'm busy until Wednesday.

Deb, why do you prefer the Mozilla personas over the featured personas under the heading of "Featured Personas"?

7 of the 8 personas showed here are Featured personas that I've been changing every week or so lately:

  http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/external/mozilla/

Is there a better way to show featured personas? If so, that would be great.
Hate to be a pain, but do we have a possible ETA on this? Would be really great to get this done this week since we're hoping to release a final of the updated add-on by or on Friday.

Let me know, and thanks :)

No problem, I'm working on it now and hope to have a patch by tonight (and hoping to make it into tomorrow's push). As I said in Comment 10, I've been busy for the last while up until this afternoon.
That's perfect. Thanks so much Matt :)

With updated Persona sample image. Feel free to get someone to attach a new image if mine isn't good enough... I just quickly put it together. Otherwise I think I've made all of the requested changes.

Patch coming soon...

My patch just updates the existing page. Do we really want a separate page for Firefox 3.6? The text "Look for the fox mask in your Add-on bar!" doesn't apply to Firefox 3.6 but we could just change only that text depending on the Firefox version.

Matt: the personas in the screenshot are not the currently featured Personas on getpersonas.com -- is the widget pulling in the right content?

I'm going to have Sean Martell review the image and hopefully provide me with another one if he doesn't like it.
Hey Matt -- Sean's requested we change the image and the Persona it shows. I'll attach the new image here, and the new Persona is "Live with Music":

Updated with new sample image and better alignment of thumbnails.

The screenshot is from my dev. machine so the database doesn't match production and therefore the featured personas are different.

Canceled the review because of comment #20.

Actually, we ended up reverting the change for now since we didn't leave time for localization to happen. I landed a version that just removes the bubble referring to the fox mask. We can use this new page once localizers have time to translate the new strings.

Land the new page today and we can see if getpersonas has a script to extract strings and then email the localizers.
Re-landed in r84727.

Wil notified l10n about new strings.
