follow-up to bug 606966.
What we did there in a short term solution it's ok, but if possible we should try to avoid having to manually handle ownership, maybe through a runnableMethod that can pass ownership to the object in the right (main) thread.
Even if more verbose and more indirect, could be less bug-prone.
