User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 I could not give feedback concerning this problems through the beta. I could not get past the hanging google search screen to do so. I have uninstalled the beta version as it is worthless if I can not research, since that is my job. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.type a search into google 2.the browser just hangs. it will not go to home page or any other page. cannot stop the search either. 3. Actual Results: browser hangs Expected Results: well, it should not hang, but it does
Please try http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode >I have uninstalled the beta version Why ? You can have both versions installed at the same time, you have to close only one version to start the other.
I saw no reason to allow a program to take up my valuable hard disk space if it is unusable.
I experienced this "hang up" problem as well. I installed Beta 4 last night, it "hung" the first time I used it (which involved a Google search), and I just un-installed it.
Version: unspecified → 3.6 Branch
I have experienced exactly the same problem with Firefox 4b12. Google search and other google pages intermittently hang during page load. Firefox spins indicating the page is loading, the GUI is completely unresponsive. Firefox can only be closed via the Task Manager. Firefox responds to the kill request from Task Manager and the main window closes. However the firefox process remains active until forceably quit via Task Manager. Firefox does not generate a crash report when forced to close.
Can everyone experiencing this problem please see if it goes away if trying Firefox in safe mode: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode If Firefox works fine in safe mode, the problem may be caused by an addon, in which case disable them one at a time to find out which is the cause.
Version: 3.6 Branch → Trunk
To speed things up, if you have the McAfee Site Advisor addon, try disabling that first, since it's known to cause lots of problems.

Firefox 4 beta 12 is now working for me since I updated my graphics driver for the intel GMA 3150 chipset (netbook graphics) to v 15.12.75.50.7.2230 (release 2010/10/20). This bug is a non issue for me now.
