User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b9 Cursor is invisible on Toolbar Search, Forms, & URL toolbar and not visible to user who thinks areas can not be typed into or appear frozen to user. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Type some text to search for a PDF file in Toolbar Search Field (default Google) and hit enter. 2. Once a new tab is opened with the loaded PDF file you searched for, try to click and get a cursor shown in Toolbar Search Field, or URL field, or perhaps an existing web form in a tab. Actual Results: Cursor is invisible, but areas can still be typed into and are still usable by simply beginning to type into them. Expected Results: Cursor should always be visible to user once those areas are clicked into with mouse.

Do you see the same in Safe Mode (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe Mode) or with Firefox 3.6.x?

Yes, same results in SafeMode with 4.0b9 and 3.6.x Interestingly, you can break out of the cursor invisible cycle in both 3.6.x and 4.0b9 by going to Firefox Options and then closing Firefox Options window. Then focus is brought back to browser it appears and elements such as Toolbar Search, Web Forms, and URL Address bar show the blinking cursor again correctly. Using Adobe Reader X. (10)
Same experience. Very annoying. Seems to affect address bar as well. Both are blocked when opening pdf inside browser Using Adobe Reader X.

Are you both opening the PDF file in the same tab or in a background tab?

Given the regression range it looks like that it is related to the Lorentz merge which happened that day.

(In reply to comment #2) Clicking PRINT from menu will also break out of invisible cursor and cause it to show again, even on the tab with loaded PDF file.

Does Firefox open PDF files? I thought it was only the PDF reading plugins...

Won't block the branch until the trunk gets fixed.

I don't think this blocks 2.0, but I'd love to see a fix for this asap after that.

This is overly annoying for people like me who are big users of pdf files. Forced to quit the browser first in order to be able to navigate. I don't know if there is anything related, but adobe reade also steals panorama shortcut when opened in browser (there is already a bug filled for that)

This persists in rc1. I pasted the URL of a pdf and the cursor in the nav bar malfunctioned when using the keyboard. I was able to use the mouse to highlight the URL and delete it

Agreed, issue still not fixed. 1. Google search box for "pdf irs form 1096" and opening the first link for PDF form 1096 IRS 2011 in Firefox 4 (rc). 2. clicked in address bar, and no cursor, only blue highlighting available. 3. clicked in Google search box and no cursor shown. 4. minimized browser for about 1 min, to use Google Chrome for additional PDF test. 5. maximized Firefox 4 (rc) and clicked in Google search box, this time, cursor is shown.
