Builds: branch and trunk build 1211 Plugin: Shockwave 8.5 Steps: 1 Go to the above url 2 Click on the buttons(one by one) that appear in the movie 3 Observe that the textarea does not get updated. Works fine on 4.x

I think this is a LiveConnect issue and I think we no longer support that.
umm, the source does not mention anything about 'swLiveConnect=true' within the <embed> :(.

The Spy Plugin reveals the call to NPN_GetJavaEnv() when a button is clicked. This is a LiveConnect issue. The plugins should be upgraded ===>FUTURE
