User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13

When you have several tabs open and you open a PDF document in a new tab, trying to close PDF reader with Ctrl+W or Ctrl+F4 results in a Quit Firefox dialog being shown as if you pressed Alt+F4.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open several tabs
2. Open PDF document in a new tab
3. press Ctrl+F4 or Ctrl+W to close the tab with PDF reader

Actual Results:
You get a prompt to Quit Firefox as if you pressed ALT+F4.

Expected Results:
Current tab with PDF reader should be closed.

What is even worse, first click on [Cancel] button unfocuses the Quit Firefox dialog, and you have to click again to dismiss the dialog.

If you do not click on the PDF page but immediately try to close it again using Ctrl+W or Ctrl+F4 it will close.

BUT...

If you do click somewhere on the PDF page, pressing Ctrl+F4 or Ctrl+W brings up "Quit Firefox" dialog again. Once you dismiss it pressing Ctrl+F4 or Ctrl+W no longer works (actually you can't even use ALT+F4 or any other keyboard shortcut), and you cannot close the offending tab save from clicking on the close button. You also cannot unfocus the PDF reader since there is no clickable area outside the reader and clicking on a tab header does not remove the focus from the PDF reader either.

This is an accessibility nightmare.
this is the opposite of bug 78414
Version: unspecified → 3.6 Branch
I wouldn't say it is opposite, it is probably related but this issue is wider:

1. Wrong action is being taken when key combination is pressed (this is dangerous)
2. Focus is lost when clicking on Quit Firefox dialog button
3. Depending on user action user can get stuck in the PDF reader tab (similar to 78414)

Have you tried to reproduce it? Can you confirm?

Marking this as Resolved > Incomplete since I cannot reproduce the issue using the latest Fx versions, the last activity on this issue was 11 years ago and it might not be relevant anymore. Feel free to re-open if the issue is still reproducible on your end in the latest FF versions.
