The openSearch specification provides descriptions for search engines, and most have them. For instance, in Firefox they are: Amazon.com Search Bing. Search by Microsoft. Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia etc. When you hover over an engine in the search dropdown, you see: Search using Amazon.com Search using Bing Search using Wikipedia What you should see when hovering over a search engine is the description.

With one button search, this really isn't possible anymore. I wonder if we should be showing the description as a tooltip in the preferences?

mverdi: Can you offer an opinion on this? Just wondering if I should keep open or close. The core question is - should tooltip on our one off engines show just the name of the engine or the description? Keeping in mind we also show the "search ENGINENAME" in the field above.

I'm going to wontfix this. Our designs don't allow for this and I don't think it matters anymore.
