As noted in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=627928#c2, we're still waiting on a comprehensive outline of what videos exactly will be featured here (and some of the actual videos themselves won't be ready for a few weeks). Am hoping you can use what you've got now to get a head start on building the page, though.

We've got an updated list of videos from Grace on Bug 635100 now.

I'm wondering if we can get these videos categorized for the Videos page like they are in the mockup. I'm wondering if the side-scrolling behaviour in the mockups is even required. How many videos will there be in each category?

+1 for that. Grace, any input would be great. I'd like for us to have this page built out with everything *but* the actual videos as soon as possible, so we can just drop in the videos themselves when they're ready.

Nope, just the existing one from December for right now (although we're working on a new edit of it that'll be slightly different and the main one to use when it's finished). Plus, the EVB one when it's ready, but that's not for a few weeks.

    
    

    
  
This page is built with the new style and side-scrolling functionality in r83569.

I'm not clear how some of the existing videos match up with the video/category list in comment #5.

A few other issues:
1. Are Firefox Flicks videos encoded in the necessary formats anywhere? (they seem to be .mov only on the FirefoxFlicks website)
2. The list here includes a "One Handed Rubiks" Fastest Firefox video that we don't have on the current page - is that intentional?
3. Are the Firefox Live videos encoded/hosted?

We can go ahead with QA on the page functionality while we get the actual video list sorted out.

Thanks Grace. I see that there are two videos at this location with the appropriate encodings ("Webcam Highlight Reel Final" and "meetthecubs"). Are these the only two videos for Firefox Live? The list above includes three:

I did have a few questions:

For the "Brand Manifesto" video, I see the files here: http://videos-cdn.mozilla.net/brand/ but the MP4 version is unusually large (over 300Mb). Can this be re-encoded? We could actually use re-sized/re-encoded versions of all three formats for this video as we only use 640px wide on the Videos page (and larger videos just uses more bandwidth than necessary).

Steven, the brand videos are now available at http://videos.mozilla.org/brand/...be sure to use the 0.2 versions, as those have the latest edits. There are also two sizes...am assuming you'll want the smaller 640 one per your earlier comment.

Thanks. I've added the Desktop What's New and Mobile What's New videos to the page (r85203. The other videos will be added shortly.

I did notice that most of these videos are 960x540 rather than the 640x360 we actually display on the page. This is resulting in videos that are a fair bit larger to download that we're actually showing on screen.

We should either get smaller encodings to use on these pages, or update the Video page to play this larger format at their native size. Recommendations?

Good point. We should be getting 640x360 versions for these. Grace, I'd say it's fine to keep the larger ones on videos.mozilla.org, b/c you never know when we'll need bigger ones, but for the website it's best to have the smaller option too.

And for the record, this is definitely something we should fix soon but is also definitely not any sort of launch blocker. Grace, let us know about the timing to get the other versions and we can file a spinoff bug for 1.5 if need be.

Quick Update:

We need to take out the mobile launch video (currently titled mobile in depth) for the desktop launch. I opened a bug today (642593) regarding the Mobile Launch Video being added in the videos page for 1.5 (mobile launch)

And in addition to the copy you mentioned above I still owe you the What’s New in Firefox 4 Mobile video which will be available this coming Monday, March 21st.

Sorry- my mistake - we already have that Tutorial video copy in place, and that Sync copy is for the first sync video [1]. We need copy for the new Sync Instructions video [2]
