Local folders should stay unchanged when synchronization with the server fails. Reproducible: Always
are you out of disk space?

No, there's enough disk space (> 100GB). I got this error for about 2 hours, then everything worked fine again. That's why I assume it was caused by server problems and I'm not reporting the fetching error as a Thunderbird bug.
when you say cleared, you mean the contents of the thread pane is blank? does the display correct on restart, or you get new messages and don't get the error?
First of all, I forgot something important (sorry !): I'm using IMAP-access. Messages disappeared from the folder, and the message list, just as if I never recieved any messages. All messages reappeared when I could successfully connect to the server (without getting the error) again after ~2 hours. I'm not sure if I restarted Thunderbird in this period.
can you create an imap log as described at https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging ?
(In reply to comment #5) > can you create an imap log as described at > https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging ? I will try that. The problem is, that I can't reproduce it at the moment. It happend once for ~2 hours (reproducible during that period) and works fine again since then.
Reporter, do you still see this problem when using a current version of thunderbird? And if you do not, please close bug report by changing resolution to worksforme
