From 4.0b10pre/20110121, Minefield is not updated automatically. The manual update does not work too.
Updates were intentionally frozen to get testing coverage on the same bits as beta 10 was built from. See http://christian.legnitto.com/blog/2011/01/20/firefox-4-beta-logistics/ "To enable additional testing of the bits we intend to ship to beta while keeping the tree open for development, we will freeze mozilla-central nightlies to the changeset we branched from (likely only for the weekend)." You can download manually until Monday: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/
