For Arabic locale, when you choose the longest item in a dropdown list, the ending part of the string selected won't appear. The string is shortened instead and three points are appended (see attached picture). This is weird since it doesn't happen with the English version.
How to reproduce:

Preferences window > Privacy
Component: Preferences → ar / Arabic
Product: Firefox → Mozilla Localizations
QA Contact: preferences → arabic.ar
This very much smells like a toolkit or layout bug. Over to toolkit/xul for triage.

Anas, do you know if this is a regression or was that way in 3.6 as well?
Component: ar / Arabic → XUL Widgets
Product: Mozilla Localizations → Toolkit
QA Contact: arabic.ar → xul.widgets
Version: unspecified → Trunk
The bug appeared in an up-to-date local build in linux x64.

I tested both 3.6.13 and 4.0b9 on win32, and they appear clean of this issue.

I don't know about 3.6 on linux, since there is no localized builds of ff3.6 for linux x64.

That means that the cause if this bug is something related to the linux interface (or the x64 build). Of course there is a small chance that something made a mess between 4.0b9 and the latest trunk.
OS: All → Linux
Hardware: All → x86_64
This bug valid and has nothing to do with drowsiness :) (the attached snapshot can prove that).

I may say that it is very likely that it is related to the interface (or fonts used). For instance, the default font in windows is narrower than that of Gnome interface on linux. There are also other dropdown lists that suffer from the same issue in the preferences window. And to add insult to injury, this weird behavior doesn't seem consistent (see the following snapshot that illustrates the same window on an earlier version of ff 4.0b8: one dropdown list is allright while the other is not).
Severity: normal → S3
