A default (I haven't touched any settings) install of Mozilla cannot get into hotmail.
This is known, as you would have found had you browsed one of the many duplicates of this bug. You need to have PSM installed first. To install, use menulines "Debug" and click menuitem "Install PSM" A bug about alerting users about this is filed: bug 47617 Connection to https needs to tell user to install PSM if w/o Resolving this one as invalid.
