Tara and John have requested that we add a promo banner to getpersonas.com for the Firefox 4 t-shirt contest. I think we could put it below the "Like Personas?" stuff on the right-hand side (above the footer/Personas Plus button).

Image is attached, text as follows. Top line should be linked to http://mzl.la/gCO9qU and bold. Second line just regular text.

---
Mozilla Firefox T-shirt Design Challenge
Help us create the official Firefox 4 t-shirt!

---

Image should also be linked to http://mzl.la/gCO9qU

The contest ends on March 13th.
Quick note . It's not a "contest" so the text should definitely say "challenge" vs. contest. Thanks :)!
Also, I'd like to add this to both the homepage, as well as the gallery pages. Let me know if I can help with anything... thanks.
Thanks Deb! As added background, I think this will potentially be our best promotional channel for the challenge, given that the audiences are so similar. If we can make this happen I'll be eternally grateful - please let me or Tara know how we can assist.
Sure.  -> chenba.

Barry, this is a P3 - less priority than all the security bugs.

Matthew, do you have time to do this one? I know Deb would really like to get it landed soon
fwiw, I'd also be eternally grateful :)

I was actually going to work on it 2 hours ago but saw that it was assigned to chenba so didn't want to step on toes :)

Also, I couldn't find a nice space for it on the homepage. Below the "Like Personas?" on the homepage would leave a large white gap below the persona previews unless we increase the number of rows on the homepage. On the gallery pages, below the "Like Personas?" upsell works nicely.

I'm fine with this solution if others are. Will this be text only or do you think we can include a graphic, too? The graphic doesn't really go with the overall look 'n feel of the site, so not sure if that's something to pursue.. but I just want to make sure the promo stands out. Also, do we know when the redesigned site will go live? If it's soon, it's something to consider..

But for now, I'd like to put this on the homepage and also on the gallery pages. Thanks again...! excited about this...
I don't think we need to worry too much about there being a large white gap below the previews on the homepage, but I'm fine with including another row or two of personas there as well. Just let me know if you do that so I can add a few more featured personas to the list.

Also, including the image for the t-shirt challenge is fine.

My work in progress for the homepage. It seems like it needs a bit more text.
Let me know if the screenshots are acceptable.
Additional copy suggestions: "T-shirts are a big deal at Mozilla, and we need your help in creating the official Firefox 4 launch shirt."

"learn more", etc. I don't think we need to fill that space with text necessarily. I think this looks great. I was also going to share other graphic options that we're using for facebook ads. They're not as nice, but work good for smaller spaces.

I like the screenshot
I really like the image on the gallery page. Mainly b/c the promo graphic is bigger. Any way we can scale it up a tad on the homepage, too?
Longer copy, larger font, larger image and added the "Learn more" link.

How about this?

v.1 Show logo and copy on homepage and gallery nav

Image file name could be a little more specific perhaps? There are some lines with trailing whitespace.

r+ Looks good. Thanks, Matthew

I renamed the image to firefox_4_design.jpg and removed the trailing whitespace.

Committed as r82519.

Note: Since there were CSS changes, the build.py script should be used to deploy to production.

To verify:
Firefox 4 design challenge image and text should be shown on the homepage and left nav. of gallery pages (below the categories and "Like Personas?"). See attached screenshots for details.

I ran the build script and committed - the CSS looks broken on stage. Is this the build script's fault or did the style not get committed right?

Hmm, not for me. The image is on top of the "Mozilla Firefox T-shirt.." header. Maybe I have old css.

It's the CDN's fault since it cached the wrong CSS for r82519 because of bug 633798. If you use Firebug to add a URL parameter to the stylesheet URL, the correct CSS will load.

Hey guys. The promos are displaying weird for me on stage. Also, when will these be pushed live?

This is the same problem that I was talking about in Comment 26. It won't be like that in production but staging won't fix itself until someone makes a change to the CSS styles. A workaround is to preview staging over https which doesn't use the CDN: https://personas.stage.mozilla.com/

The plan is to push on 2/17 @ 1500 (see bug 634317)
