hg cloning is slow.  wget and tar are fast.  if every job is going to need tools, and it's not available globally (yet), maybe we should be grabbing a tarball of tools and unpacking it instead of cloning from hg all the time.

Or bump the priority of bug 623845.  It shouldn't be especially hard to do.

I'd rather get the tip of tools at job start than at boot, even if we reboot every N hours idle.
ok - bug 623845 is really about having our own tools available everywhere, rather than using them for builds.
