After an update to Firefox 4.0b10 when I check the bookmarks inside a folder on Bookmarks toolbar it shows as a blank white space.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Update Firefox from 4.0b9 to 4.0b10
2.Check the bookmarks under a folder in Bookmarks tab
Actual Results:  
Shows a blank white space instead of actual bookmarks

Expected Results:  
Actual bookmarks inside the bookmark folder should be displayed

WFM, please reopen if you can still reproduce in RC/Final version, also ensure your graphic drivers are updated.

Same issue here with Firefox 10.0.1 running on WIN7 Ultimate 32bit.  The bookmarks can be made to appear by unchecking "Bookmarks Toolbar" under View > Toolbars, close and reopen View > Toolbars and check "Bookmarks Toolbar" however if Firefox is closed and reopened the Bookmarks Toolbar is blank once more and the above procedure will restore but for that session only.

did you try the suggestions in comment 2 and comment 3?

Yes, I did with no effect.  Interestingly, when I first start up Firefox after a reboot of the computer, the bookmarks toolbar populates OK but after shutting down Firefox and restarting it, the bookmarks toolbar is blank. It can, however, be restored by the procedure set out in my original post.

Did you move the bookmarks toolbar contents to a different position or a different toolbar? Like on the same toolbar as tabs?

Could you also try to temporarily disable plug-ins in about:addons, and Hardware acceleration in Options/Advanced? Is is still reproduceable?

Thank you ... updating the Java plug-in seems to have done the trick.

Whoops ... spoke too soon!  Firefox went into non-responsive mode on Facebook.  When it did respond and closed, the problem returned on starting up again.  Tried re-installing Java to no effect.  Seems to be related to Firefox becoming non-responsive and being shut down to start again.  So I'm back to where I started ... I suppose though it's all good information.
