Details

embdding applications that are memory sensitive might want to
"tune" the amount of history they keep around in the memory
and trade off against performance.

there is also some speculation that session history might
be growing unbounded or leaking over time. 

providing a pref to control the depth of history might 
help us to find solutions and anwsers to history
related memory questions.
