I can confirm this is happening with Firefox is not run in Safe Mode.
After about 3 hours, Firefox began to use 90% of CPU. Firefox became unresponsive and eventually I could not click on the menu items. Firefox had to be exited forcefully.
MY SETUP
BUILD IDENITIFIER: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b11)
Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b11
COMPUTER OS : Mac OS 10.6.6
HARDWARE PLATFORM: x86
TIME OF ERROR : Roughly Feb 22 2011 15-27-00 CST
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open 4 tabs
2. Surf, do work, normally.
3. After about 3 hours, Firefox began to become unresponsive. Upon opening
"Activity Monitor" it was observed that Firefox was using 90%-99% of CPU
NOTES
Attached is a sample taken by Activity Monitor showing where Firefox was spending the most time.
If logs would be more helpful, I'll be happy to attach some logs
