My usual workflow for filing a bug, especially in a component I'm not familiar with: 1. Search for similar bugs (see, I'm a good citizen) 2. From that search, I discover that my bug has not yet been filed, and also I figure out *what product and component* it belongs to 3. Go to the new bug page 4. Flail around for a while trying to get back to that same product and component I really want to skip step 4. I'd like to have a link from every bug, similar to the "clone this bug" link but preferably much more discoverable (an independent problem), that goes to the new bug page with the same product and component filled in. I hit this case enough that I'd even put it in as a "New" link right next to the "Edit" link in the bug title, but maybe that's just me. The severity of this problem is probably greatly exacerbated within the Mozilla bugzilla system because it uses a custom, supposedly easier product selection page that lists out the most common products. The issue I have with that is that it's much harder to map an existing bug's product/component to the options available if I'm filing a bug for one of the "Other Products" products. Especially since it suggests a 3-part mental model (product category/product/component) that differs from reality (product/component). And I just realized that in writing this bug, after 6 months of working with it.

Sure, good enough. It's a little weird, because the only reason I'm viewing a bug is *because* I'm planning on filing one on the same product/component. So the real issue is something like "hard to find right product/component to file a bug on", which is much too vague. So I'm fine with your new title.

Okay. :-) This will most likely be obsoleted by improving the process of filing a bug, then. Also, for bmo, you may want to check your Preferences to skip the Simple Product Chooser.
This is something that we did when I was at Red Hat that added a link to the top/bottom of each show_bug.cgi page. The link went directly to enter_bug.cgi choosing the same product/component as the current bug so that users could enter a string of new bugs against a single product rather quickly. Is this similar to what you are requesting? Dave
Exactly this, yes!

Bugzilla 6.0 will ship with the new modal UI created for BMO, which offers the convenient New/Clone Bug menu.
