User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b11pre) Gecko/20110130 Firefox/4.0b11pre
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b11pre) Gecko/20110130 Firefox/4.0b11pre

Load a lot of tabs and make Firefox crash.

After a crash, click on the restore button (in the "This is embarrassing" page) : tabs are restored in background but foreground doesn't change during a few long seconds, until the 1st tab is effectively loaded and finally replace the "This is embarrassing" page (in my case the tab is Gmail).

From a user point of view, not having immediate feedback, especially in such circumstances (trying to restore from a crash), is not good.

I suggest to replace the "This is embarrassing" page with a blank page (or blank page with a "please wait" message) immediately after the user clicked on the restore button, without waiting that the restored tab is effectively loaded.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Load a lot of tabs and make Firefox crash.
2.click on the restore button

Actual Results:
wait during some long seconds before being able to get feedback

Expected Results:
firefox should provide immediate feedback (i.e. replace the "This is embarrassing" page with a blank page or display a "please wait" message) until the tab is restored
This would be nice to have, as an enhancement. Although I am certain we will not have this in Firefox 4. Setting this to NEW, but I have a strange feeling it will be a wontfix issue.

Personally I agree.

Build ID:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b11pre) Gecko/20110131 Firefox/4.0b11pre
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Severity: normal → enhancement
Target Milestone: --- → Future
Note that i'm using 4.0b11pre and this still a problem, even with cascaded session restore functionality
I guess the question for priority is "has this gotten worse since Firefox 3.6?"
"has this gotten worse since Firefox 3.6?" : no, problem is exactly the same
Severity: normal → S3
