I am not sure what else to say. TB v3.1.7 crashes. Sometimes it appears to damage the stability of the OS and requires a reboot for restore it. Other recent crashes have successfully sent a crash report. The ones today simply leave TB a zombie. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: The crash is random. Sometimes days go by without a problem. Today it has crashed within 15 minutes of startup. I was not actively using TB at the time. As i mentioned there were no crash reports for the recent spate of crashes on 2-Feb-2011. Here are the IDs for the earlier crashes: bp-336f29c6-0e2c-4ca1-ad3d-1fd4b2110126 01/26/2011 11:39 AM bp-1a5fa0c6-73dd-4dcf-bdc9-b0f822110126 01/26/2011 11:38 AM bp-38c580bf-bd84-42f3-be0d-ff4b22110126 01/26/2011 11:38 AM bp-7d172134-fa93-4b13-8cca-3e4052110118 01/18/2011 06:45 PM bp-1fed9e6f-4041-4eb3-9152-b8ca62110111 01/11/2011 04:14 PM
does it crash if started in safe mode? https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode if it does, please post report ID.
the first few are nsXULDocument::AddChromeOverlays(). one is JS_TraceChildren one is nsCoreUtils::IsColumnHidden(nsITreeColumn*)

Jim, ... (In reply to comment #3) > does it crash if started in safe mode? > https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode > if it does, please post report ID. you might also try version 5. I don't think this is related to Bug 620343 - crash [@ nsMsgXFGroupThread::FindMsgHdr(nsIMsgDBHdr*)] (3.1.7) keeps crashing during various things. I don't see MsgDBHdr in your stack

Jim, In what way does it "appears to damage the stability of the OS and requires a reboot for restore it." ?? Were you able to try version 5?
I am no longer certain TB is the problem. I do not know what destabilizes my system; after 1 - 5 days programs no longer start (crash and burn at startup), crash spontaneously, or otherwise act most oddly. After a reboot all is well for 1 - 5 days. It is further frustrating since there is almost no difference in hardware or software between this computer and several others, other than the disk drive complement. Same OS, OS version, OS updates, software versions, etc. The only significant difference is that this computer uses the ext4 filesystem for all of the disk volumes. All of the others use ext3, reiserfs, etc. I feel comfortable saying that TB is not the cause of the instability and that this report may be closed.
