All we have now is the MDN logo and basic design elements from our website, but we need to create something awesome for print. The audience at SXSW is going to be bombarded with cool swag and we want to make sure ours stands out. Janet and I need to think of some cool messaging, and I plan to write up a short creative brief, but I wanted to get the bug filed so we can find a resource to help us. I know Tara mentioned that our designers are busy with other projects, so I am open to going with a new designer (I have a few in mind). But wanted to check with the creative team first. We would need to have a final design ready in a couple of weeks so we can get them printed and shipped in time for the start of SXSW on 3/11. The MDN logo is available here: http://people.mozilla.com/~jpatel/mdn/assets/sno/ More details to come, but please let us know who we can work with for a quick turnaround, or I can find a designer myself also.
Hey Jay. I have a designer that might be able to help whip this up for us. Though, I still have to check with him since his plate is already getting full with other projects. Let me know who else you had in mind.. we can discuss and see what works best. Meanwhile, a few questions: * We can print stickers, flyers, and t-shirts relatively quickly. Do you have printers already lined up and do you have a deadline to give me for handing off designs? Couple of weeks is helpful, but a more clear deadline would be better. * Are you looking to leverage the existing MDN logo/graphics for all these materials, or creating new graphics? I just wanted to make sure... something like a t-shirt for example can easily use the MDN logo and play with fun taglines and unique colors and so forth. I think our MDN logo is pretty cool.. so if we go with that vs. illustrating new art, that would be my preference, and also the most efficient way of moving forward on this given our timing. Also, since the MDN brand hasn't gotten much public exposure yet (or at least I don't think it has) it would be great to really showcase that vs. introducing new art. Just my 2 cents. It would also impact our decision around which designer to go with. * When it comes to the copy / content... that'll really help drive some of the design. So, the earlier we have that the better. Let me know when we can expect to see that. That's about it for now. Lets sync up in person to chat more about next steps.

Yup, for the t-shirt, that is exactly what we had in mind. MDN logo + url + tagline. > so if we go with that vs. illustrating new art, that would be my preference, > and also the most efficient way of moving forward on this given our timing. > Also, since the MDN brand hasn't gotten much public exposure yet (or at least I > don't think it has) I think we want to create something more fun for the stickers. Stormy suggested we make a sticker sheet that combines MDN, Firefox, Mozilla, and other Web-by type stickers. If that's not possible, then at least a decent sticker layouts that will allow us to promote specific things like Docs and Demo Studio. This can jsut be the MDN logo + some visuals + text in a nice tight design that will look good on a sticker. it would be great to really showcase that vs. introducing > new art. Just my 2 cents. I don't think we want to go crazy with new art... but add some style and creativity to enhance the MDN logo and make it feel more exciting. > > * When it comes to the copy / content... that'll really help drive some of the > design. Sounds good. Thanks Jay. Can you put something on our calendar to discuss this tomorrow? In terms of timing, I'd need to know my hand-off date for designs (not shipping) :) and my personal take on the stickers is to go for something a little more simple. Perhaps we can create some "badge" like stickers... but just keep in mind that the more crazy we get with design variations or non-standard print... the longer things will take. Anyway, lets catch up in person and figure out how to proceed. Thanks
Chatted with Jay. He has been working with our freelancer Matt -- and we can close this bug. Jay, if you can attach the source files or screenshots of final assets for reference, that'd be great. Thanks! enjoy sxsw.
