(Whiteboard: [necko-would-take][proxy])
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/9.0.597.84 Safari/534.13 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101206 Ubuntu/10.10 (maverick) Firefox/3.6.13 Firefox requires a restart for changes made to KDE 4.6.0 global proxy settings to take effect. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Change the proxy settings in KDE's system settings application. Actual Results: Changes require a restart of Firefox to take effect. Expected Results: Changes take effect immediately. Changes take effect immediately when using GNOME and changing its global proxy settings. This problem also affects Google Chrome.
In my case, a restart of Firefox does not make the proxy settings function. I've filed a new bug. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=834039
