Bug 633119 identified a need to have the 'irrelevantSignatureRegEx' applied throughout the signature generation process rather than just at the beginning. This will require reworking the Processor.generateSignatureFromList function. I need feedback as to the urgency of this change to behavior: 1.7.7, 1.7.8 or an emergency patch to 1.7.6?

1.7.7, I don't think it's worth trying to emergency-patch this.

done and committed to 1.7.7 trunk r2944. At the same time, I've backported the 1.8 SignatureUtilities class to the 1.7.7 line.

QA steps to verify: 1) untar gunzip attachment containing a crash pair 2) submit pair to a collector noting resultant ooid 3) request ooid as priority job 4) note signature of processed job. It should be: "[@ mozalloc_abort(char const* const) | nsCycleCollectorGCHookRunnable::Run() ]". It should NOT be: " [@ mozalloc_abort(char const* const) | mozcrt19.dll@0x1327f | nsCycleCollectorGCHookRunnable::Run() ]"

I suspect I know the answer to this question, however is there a staging env for qa to use for cases such as this?

(In reply to comment #5) > I suspect I know the answer to this question, however is there a staging env > for qa to use for cases such as this? Yes crash-stats.stage.mozilla.org for the UI, crash-reports.stage.mozilla.org for inserting crashes. Find us in #breakpad if you have any questions/trouble with it, it's only updated on-demand for example.
