User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110211 Thunderbird/3.3a3pre Going from a nightly build from two months ago from one in the past day, I've observed that the Discard button no longer is outlined (or highlighted, not too sure what the terminology here is in Apple speak). This is the button that shows up when you want to close a message compose window that contains changes which haven't been saved. Having the original behavior was extremely helpful since to discard a message it was as simple as hitting COMMAND+W to close the window and SPACE to initiate the default action of whatever button was outlined, in this case the Discard button. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Thunderbird. 2. Open a Message Compose window. 3. Write a novel that you actually don't care about. 4. Close the window. 5. Observe. Actual Results: A window pops up (rolls out) stating, "Message has not been sent. Do you want to save the message in the Drafts folder?" Buttons provided are Discard, Cancel and Save. The Save button is highlighted. Please see attached screen shot. Expected Results: A window pops up (rolls out) stating, "Message has not been sent. Do you want to save the message in the Drafts folder?" Buttons provided are Discard, Cancel and Save. The Discard button is outlined, Save button is highlighted.

This works for me on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110213 Thunderbird/3.3a3pre. Can you try with thunderbird in -safe-mode (http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode ) ?

Can you try with thunderbird in -safe-mode > (http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode ) ? Updated to... Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110214 Thunderbird/3.3a3pre Using the repro steps, both in and out of Safemode I still observe this issue.
I can confirm this, I'm seeing this too in Thunderbird 5.0 (That's the most specific version ID I can easily get from the menus :( )
I'm not sure if this is still an issue under OSX. I've worked around this bug by completely giving up on Apple and switching over to Debian. The default action of this window under Linux is to save a draft, but the "D" shortcut now works for Don't Save.
I cannot see where there is a problem at all. The dialog looks the same today (the buttons are "Don't save", "Cancel" and "Save") and all 3 buttons work as expected. The highlight is on the "Save" button which is IMHO the right choice, too.
I've switched from Thunderbird to using Gmail for most things and mutt when I want encryption. So my investment in this issue is gone. Unless someone else would like to pop up and champion this issue, please close it out. Thanks.
At least on Windows and Linux, you can do the same thing as in comment 0, except replace "space" with "n" (for Do_n_'t Save). Let's close this.
