User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110211 Firefox/4.0b12pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110211 Firefox/4.0b12pre I have attached a screen shot of my toolbar which has the following addons Lastpass, firebug ad readit later. There is a lot of space wasted with addon buttons. Say for example all the buttons including the bookmark one has on the rightmost side few pixel with for a downward arrow. Dropping that entirely makes the icons more compact and gives user more space for the location bar. Also I feel the space between 2 buttons is more that it should be. Doing this on the line if how chrome has it makes it more compact. Also I am not sure if this is a problem if addons misusing the toolbar buttons. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Have some addons installed which adds buttons to toolbar 2. 3.
Can you try to attach the screenshot again, please?
Between each addon button there is a considerable amount of space wasted. And addon button themselves actually does not need that much space, it would result in more space available for the url bar if that can be saved.
What extensions are those in the screenshot? (I recognize Firebug but not the other two.)
OK, there are two Firefox bugs here: - LastPass should use a small icon instead of a big one. This should be fixed since bug 626382. - Buttons with dropdowns have a little too much padding. This will be fixed by bug 629841. After that, what remains is a big space in front of the Firebug icon. That's caused by an error counter which is inserted by Firebug. The space doesn't go away when I deselect "Show Error Count" in the Firebug menu, unfortunately. And I also can't get it to display any numbers, so maybe that's just a bug in Firebug.
Is is possible to completely remove the button part which provides right part dropdown for settings. This dropdown provides the same settings as of right clicking the addon button and IMO the right drop down button is a duplication of functionality and waste of precious screen space
I don't know of an easy way to do that. I've filed http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=4123 on the Firebug issue, and since the other issues are fixed in Firefox, I'm resolving this bug.
