Details

Using Mozilla nightly (december 17). Unzip into Mozilla directory and run. Initially, Mozilla creates a *.slt directory under your account name (why?). Delete the User50 directory and run Mozilla again, and it recreates the User50 directory and also recreates the initial *.slt sub directory and then ANOTHER *.slt sub dirctory. Each time you quit Mozilla and delete the User50 directory, another *.slt sub directory is created. (I currently have about 10 of these *.slt sub dirs). I initially deleted the User50 directory to get rid of the *.slt sub directory, only to find Mozilla is creating more each time. I was unable to determine where Mozilla is storing these *.slt directory names (but it's stored somewhere, because Mozilla upon recreating the User50 dir, "appends" a new *.slt dir to the old dir list).
I can reproduce this bug with build 2000122320 / Win2k The .slt direcetorys are created beacause none should know your profile location. (See bug 56002) I can reproduce this bug, if I don´t delete the registry.dat file. If I delete the registry.dat, Mozilla´s Account Manager coming up after I restart mozilla and mozilla don´t create new sub .slt directorys. This bug is wontfix. (See 58459)
