User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729)

Within a JavaScript alert() or confirm() dialog, you can use the Tab button to move focus around. When focus is on one of the buttons there is a visual indicator (dotted line around the button). However, continuing to press Tab focus will go away from the buttons but there is no visual indication of where focus is. Using JAWS nothing is said when focus moves away from the buttons. Using inspect32 when focus moves away from the buttons it is shown as being on the text of the dialog.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on link or button that launches a confirm() dialog
2. Click on the Tab button to moves focus around the dialog

Actual Results:
With the confirm() dialog, focus moves from the OK button to the Cancel button, then focus goes away (or moved to the dialog text), then back to OK button and continues in this loop.

Expected Results:
Focus should not go to the dialog text or if it must then some indication of where focus is should be shown.

2.Press TAB a few times
3.At some point you can see a blue focus ring around the OK button, but there is no dotted line around the OK text.

moving to general component for now. What's correct component - toolkit?

Yeah, Toolkit.

I've noticed this... oddity... when implementing the tab-modal dialogs for Firefox 4 and testing focus-related fixes. I kept the current behavior, but it seems odd to me. My guess had been that this was for accessibility (!) so you could tab to the dialog text and then select it to cut/paste. While having the text selectable is definitely useful, having it tab order just seems odd.

Yep, it doesn't look necessary. What the history of this change?

Marco, how does it sound from AT perspective?
