User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10 FBSMTWB
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.15) Gecko/20110303 Thunderbird/3.1.9
There are similar bugs to this, but none seems to be exactly what I am experiencing. Also, at least one says the status is resolved, which isn't true since it is still happening with Thunderbird 3.1.9, installed today. This has been happening to us for about a year, on multiple computers with different operating systems (Windows7, Linux, Windows Vista, Windows XP).
When opening a local folder, all of the message data in that folder are lost. This includes new, unread messages. These messages do not go to any other folder, including trash. They are simply gone.
One of the previous bugs said this happened when . or a space are at the end of the folder name. This is not true of my folders; they end with the last letter of the folder name.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Thunderbird.
2.Click on a folder.
3.
Expected Results:
The folder should open and all of the messages, unread and read, should still be in it and available.

I forgot to add that Repair Folder does not fix this problem.

You mean rebuild index ?

I believe that's what Repair Folder does, rebuild the .msf index. What I'm talking about is going to Folder Properties and clicking the button that says Repair Folder.
Also, I have each folder's Retention Policy set to Never Delete Messages, which didn't help either.

what antivirus software do you run?
does problem go away if you disable AV, or exclude the thunderbird profile from being scanned?
