there are 3 scripts which compose an update: update-src.pl = updates the files from remote repositories update-search.pl = updates the glimpse index using the current local files update-xref.pl = updates the identifier index using the current local files the code today in update-full-onetree seems to race these three tasks. only the last two tasks are safely parallelizable. update-full-onetree is not a script I wrote, i believe someone from mozilla.com wrote it.
