I haven't managed to find a way to reproduce this, nor am I even sure of the circumstances.

A tab in one group (say my Buildbot group) will appear in another group (say my Mozilla group) after a restart of the browser.  This happened today with 4.0b13pre 2011-03-03, with the restart being done from the same version.

I have Sync enabled, but I only use a single machine, so the tabs aren't being re-shuffled elsewhere.

I've been using Panorama since b6 or so, so it's quite possible that my profile is corrupted from an earlier bug.
This, or something similar, just happened to me. Specifically, I had tabs from 4 or 5 different groups all move into another existing group. Some tabs from these groups were untouched, however.

One thing possibly of note is that each time my session is restored, an http login dialog pops up, steals focus, and switches my tab group.
It's possible that this is a dupe of bug 628188. Do you use any jetpack based add-ons? Does disabling them fix the problem?
I do use "Always Right" and "Bugzilla Tweaks". The former sounds suspicious!
