Tried to send a message to a person with @sky.com address. Got message:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded:  Syntax error in parameters or arguments to RCPT command. Please check the message recipient  and try again.

Tried with dummy address [e-mail], same result.

Person got message that was CC in a Reply to All from someone else.

Tried sending via Gmail SMTP - bounce in Gmail indicates an unrecognized character following sky.com:
Probe failed: Illegal envelope To: address (invalid domain name): [name]@sky.com�

Was able to send message to this address from my webmail. Thunderbird and sky.com seem to be the common factors in the failures.

1. Create a message to a [e-mail] address in Thunderbird
2. Send it

SO the error is on your smtp server. Can we get an smtp log as described at https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging ?

Tried other @*.com addresses, no problems with them. And <[e-mail]> (with the angle brackets) in To line produces same error.

Tried test message to [e-mail], problem did not show up - just a normal bounce. Now using Thunderbird 10.0.2
