(I would not be shocked if this is a duplicate, but I was astonish to not find a bug on this, not even one closed a dup - http://bit.ly/hLphqZ and http://bit.ly/eD4rUz )

1. create a contact
2. enter unique info for "additional email"  [e-mail]
3. search on [e-mail]

no hits. which is surprising 

please do not dupe to Bug 298438 - Address book quick search should search in whole address card

I, too, ran across this issue.
After about 10 minutes of searching, I have been unable to find another report of this problem.
Here's how I would phrase the problem:
  Address book search fails to find email address in "Additional Email" field of contact.
(This phrasing may help others find this problem report.)

Cause is simple, SecondEmail is indeed surprisingly not included in the current pref for AB quicksearch (just like so many other important fields, see Bug 298438, Bug 118624, etc.):

mail.addr_book.quicksearchquery.format;?(or(PrimaryEmail,c,@V)(DisplayName,c,@V)(FirstName,c,@V)(LastName,c,@V))

Probably it just needs to be added there, but we should verify if that leads to duplicate results e.g. when primary and secondary email address are same.
