David - as we haven't sorted out the update process for this site, can you let me know if join.mozilla.org is something that you can update, like Mozilla.org?
Comment 2•14 years ago

No, I don't have access to join.mozilla.org. I don't thin Paul does either -- CC'ing him to confirm.
In the short-term you can check with Jabba since he made the initial check-in to join.mozilla.org. Longer term we can figure out who else should have access.

Guess I'm talkin' to Jabba then. :)
Jabba, how can we make the copy changes above in a way that's easy for you to implement?
Comment 5•14 years ago
|

To get the changes to production, simply have them committed to the svn repository that we are running and file an IT bug requesting an update with the instructions to "svn up in the root directory, then svn up in the locale directory and run compile-po.sh" or whatever the specific instructions are. Any changes to .htaccess that are needed will need to be noted in the bug as well.

Okay. I understood about 10% of that :), so I'll connect with David (who hopefully understands more) and get that ready for you.
Comment 7•14 years ago
|
||
To clarify:
Either David or I can update files that end up on Join Mozilla. They're simply in the staging branch of mozilla.org's SVN. Next step is to update the locales, and finally if / when we're ready to push, a bug will need to be filed with IT.

IMPORTANT FAQ Updates (Please also fix the typo request posted to this bug on April 5, 2011)
Why should I become an official Mozilla supporter?
Firefox is developed by Mozilla — a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping the Web safe and accessible for everyone, everywhere. Join Mozilla gives you a chance to support the organization you love, and be a part of something even more powerful — a global movement working to build a better Internet.

Pressed the wrong button during check out? Happens all the time. Drop us a line at askjoin@mozilla.org and we will be glad to help you get the size of shirt that you want.
Where does my donation go?

I’m receiving a payment error. Can you help?

Hey Ryan and Ben,
I'm not sure where things stand with Join dev, but can you let me know if these bugs need to stay open?
Comment 19•13 years ago
|
||
It doesn't look like most of these changes were ever actually pushed live (looking at this page), so I think this probably does. That said, I think some of the FAQ info could stand some further updates now that the program itself has evolved a bit. I'll circle back on this with what that should be, though getting the previously mentioned copy changes (Comment 17) would still be good in the interim if possible.

Reviving this and adding Ross, who can hopefully help. I've further updated the updated text -- it's attachment 597591 [details]. Can we get this text up on http://join.mozilla.org/faq.en.html?
And we should also get this updated for the DE page, but I've no idea how to make that happen...
Comment 22•13 years ago

I've put your changes on staging: http://www-stage.mozilla.org/join/faq.php
Ben, are you happy with this?
Jabba, have I used the correct configuration for the PHP strings?
Is there an extra step to get this translated once it is pushed to live (I think I have commit rights to push myself)

Looks great, thank ya sir. 3 small nits:
--Can you make the font for the section headers match what's currently live at http://join.mozilla.org/faq.en.html? The ones on staging are harder to read.
--I gave you a typo in the "My card won't print" section -- we need to add a "to" between "will be happy" & "help."
--Can you link the words "terms of service" & "privacy policy" in the "when I join Mozilla, what happens to my data" section, to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/about/legal.html & http://www.mozilla.org/about/policies/privacy-policy.html, respectively?

I noticed the font was bad on staging, I'm assuming this will be fixed when I push to live as no CSS changes have been made. I'm just pushing a text update...

Guillermo -- I was talking with Joel, and he thought you might know how to proceed here (or who the best person would be to ask). We're trying to push some changes live from staging on a join.mozilla.org page, but Ross, who is trying to do it, can't find where the page actually lives (they're not on the main mozilla.org servers, at the least).
Any ideas?
Thanks!

In regard to servers we mean SVN repos - for staging I checked into the staging branch but it doesn't look like that and trunk have the same set-up...
Any further questions please ask,
Ross

Still no idea where I would commit this to.
Comment 33•12 years ago
|
||
Hoping to try and revive this? Who can be pinged? At this point there are probably more edits to make, but getting these would be a start.
Comment 34•12 years ago
|
||
Due to the fact that more edits might be needed, and that the bug has been open so long and therefore pretty stagnant I'm wondering we might be better served in opening up a new bug, working out the now desired changes and maybe filling it under 'Other' instead of donate.mozilla.org so that we have a better chance of someone seeing it who knows what to do.
In the meantime I will try and do as much detective work as possible to see exactly where the required commits to live have to be made.

Sounds good -- I'll open a new bug with proposed new text as soon as I draft it.
