When I had RealPlayer installed on my father-in-law's computer, the Windows Media player Firefox plugin, for some reason, seemed to try to run using RealPlayer instead of WMP; this lead directly to crashes of the sort

Several things of note here:
 - I submitted a bunch of crashes here without realizing it (though it seems most were throttled). I didn't receive a single "Plugin has crashed" infobar.
 - I submitted one browser crash at the same address (bp-168057ee-caf9-4e4b-bc96-0eb292110312) - I was testing whether I could confirm bug 639177, because I presumed that the plugin just wasn't working, vs it crashing.

This plugin setup worked properly in 3.6.latest. Therefore, this could possibly be a Firefox bug instead of a Windows Media Player Firefox plugin bug.
Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/

If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
