User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

I have recently installed Firefox 4 RC1.
This happens for both contextual "right-button" drop-down menus and the top menu bar.
When right clicking with the mouse, the contextual menu appears correctly. When moving the mouse to select an option, the contextual menu dissapears. After right-clicking with the mouse, selection is possible using the keyboard's arrow keys and the "enter" button.
The same thing happens with the main menu bar, when (left) clicking to expand a menu, the menu appears, but dissappears when moving the mouse. Selection is however possible using the arrow keys.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
With contextual menus:
1. Right-click so that a contextual menu appears.
2. Move the mouse to try to select an option of this menu.
3. The contextual menu dissappears when moving the mouse.
With main menu:
1. Click so that the menu expands.
2. Move the mouse to try to select an option of this menu.
3. The menu dissappears when moving the mouse.
Actual Results:
The menu dissapears when moving the mouse.

Expected Results:
The menu should have remained, and the selection over which the mouse cursor is placed should be highlighted.

This does not happen with Firefox 3.6.15, which I had installed in my PC.
Works for me

Do you have a dual screen setup? Further does it also happen when you disable hardware acceleration inside the advanced pane of the preferences? Further you should tell us the information you can find about the graphics hardware when opening about:support.
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Can this be related to Bug 638386 - Menus show but close on hover with compiz after returning from suspending or browser sits idle?
To Henrik: I do not have a dual screen setup.
I have checked the hardware acceleration. I am working with NVidia X Server, and I do not find any hardware acceleration options. In fact, there are hardly any options available.
I am a newbie, and do not know what you mean about to

To George: The error happens when returning from suspending, but it also happens after initial booting up of the PC. It does seem to be somewhat similar to Bug 638386, but it is not solved by rebooting.

This happens most of the time, but not 100% of the time. For example, right now, the right click contextual menu and the main title bar menus work just fine. They did not 10 minutes ago. I have not launched any program besides Firefox.
The h/w options are inside the preferences dialog. Check the advanced pane.
Please reopen if the window manager is not compiz, or if focusing another app and returning to Firefox doesn't remedy the situation.
