Please update the download button to point to*: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-4.0&os=osx&lang=en-US&WT.mc_id=b15&WT.mc_ev=click *Please continue to detect OS and locale where possible. This new URL points to 4.0 final (instead of RC) and includes analytics tracking (the WT parameters at the end). Zach, can you update this tonight? Thanks!
Random comment from Release Engineering - that link won't serve any files just yet. Will the change be going live immediately on Facebook ?
(In reply to comment #1) > Random comment from Release Engineering - that link won't serve any files just > yet. Will the change be going live immediately on Facebook ? No, this site will not be public until Firefox 4 launch day. We're just updating the URL now so we can code freeze and test on stage. Thanks for checking!
I noticed one of the GET parameters was os=osx. Is that correct?
(In reply to comment #3) > I noticed one of the GET parameters was os=osx. Is that correct? That's correct when a user is viewing the page on OS X. The OS is detected automatically, so it will have different values for Windows and Linux users.

Want to make sure that we're covering the cases listed in http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/4.0rc1/system-requirements; this is all taken care of on Mozilla.com, but sadly we have no automated tests we can use to test this on the Facebook app. For example, on Mac, we should make sure we're not trying to give a download URL to PPC users, or those on 10.4.
i think the easiest and best solution here is to bite the bullet on user experience, and have them always directed to the official download page where mozilla can determine what download to give

Agreed ... I've updated the testers on this latest change in behavior.
checking this in now

For the record, we updated the link to http://www.mozilla.com/?WT.mc_id=b15&WT.mc_ev=click to preserve the analytics tag
