The ability for users to set a permanent orientation would be very nice to have. Dolphin Browser as well as the stock internet application allow the users to force an orientation.
Both aforementioned browser have visible UI to change the preference but I personally wouldn't be opposed to a hidden preference in about:config.
The stock internet application's preference is titled "Landscape-only display" with a checkbox. Dolphin browser's preference is titled "Orientation" with three options: Auto, Landscape, and Portrait.
Or at last develop the backend so extensions could at least implement, use, and expanded upon.

Thomas, can you evaluate and prioritize this with your teams? (Release drivers are not going to be tracking this.)
