User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_6; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.16 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/10.0.648.151 Safari/534.16 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 When I click a link in TweetDeck, it wants to open in Firefox, but it won't let it since "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time." as the dialog says. Instead of denying me, Firefox should simply open a new tab or window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Make sure Firefox is set to be your default browser. 2. Open Firefox 4. 2. Open TweetDeck (or some other application that launches URLs). 3. Click on a link. This also happens when I click "Run on server" in Eclipse (Java EE) as I have Eclipse open my default browser instead of Eclipse's built-in browser. Actual Results: An error dialog appears stating "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time.". Expected Results: The software should have opened a new tab (or window) following my Tab Preferences. Chrome, for instance, opens the link in a new tab. Without this feature, it is unnecessarily more difficult to develop or view links posted by friends.
Josh, fallout from bug 633941 perhaps? Reporter, could you see if the issue occurs if using Firefox in safe mode: http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode How about with a new, empty testing profile? (Don't install any addons into it) http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile

Yes, this still happens in Safe Mode. No, this issue does not happen with a new profile started via "/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -ProfileManager" on the terminal. Interestingly enough, this issue does not happen when I load my default profile either (with all my add-ons) using "/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -ProfileManager" in the terminal.
Reporter, please can you confirm whether this issue still occurs using Firefox 4.0.1 (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/new/) or higher, in Firefox safe mode (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode) and/or with a clean profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile). Ideally, also check using the latest nightly: http://nightly.mozilla.org/ If this issue no longer occurs, please close as "Resolved Worksforme". It it in fact still occurs, please provide as much extra information as possible, including what versions tried, whether safe mode/new profile tested etc. Thanks! :-) (Template reply to inactive UNCO bugs)
The issue went away after I first ran it in Safe Mode. Maybe I had a permissions issue when upgrading? Either way, I can no longer reproduce it.
