RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 622410

People

(Reporter: velius, Unassigned)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

While viewing any normal webpage or putting focus in a multiline textbox, synaptics touch pad is not scrolling the window/subwindow whatsoever. While viewing a PDF with the acrobat plug-in it does do this. I have updated the driver to the latest from synaptics.com but it does the same thing. Now, the truly odd thing is if I click on the scroll bar itself and hold I can then use the scroll functionality of the touch pad to do the scrolling.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Firefox
2. Visit any page that is long enough to produce a scroll bar
3. Try to scroll with touch pad, it will fail
4. Click and hold on scroll bar and scroll with touch pad, then it works

Synaptics Driver details: 15.2.7.0 12/22/2010

This problem did not happen with Firefox 3.6.15 and earlier. Only happened after 'upgrading' to 4.0.

This sounds like it could be the same as bug 622410. What model laptop do you have?
HP DV6-1238nr with AMD Turion X2 64 bit processor.

That bug looked like it was related to win7 32bit; I'm running 64bit version.
Thanks for the information. So far I haven't seen any evidence of 32/64 bit making any difference. I'm going to mark this as a dupe of the other bug.
