Crash Data

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.16 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/10.0.648.151 Safari/534.16
Build Identifier: mozilla 4.0

clicking other tab/new tab, loading any url, restore/miniize all cause 'firefox not responding' or crash after initial few times
also irritably slow in loading (slower than chrome, IE)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click on Restore in Restore Session tab
2.Click on any link( I clicked on report bug link )
3.Click on new tab
Each of the above cause the problem
4.If it does load it takes enormous time

Actual Results:
'firefox is not responding' indefinitely
or firefox crashes

Expected Results:
simple quick loading of the link(s)/ open new tab

Problem appeared in firefox 3.6, after uninstalling reinstalling it persisted in firefox 4.0

Also, could you see if the issue occurs if using Firefox in safe mode:
http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode

How about with a new, empty testing profile? (Don't install any addons into it)

Thanks for those.

The last ~3 crashes are 3.6.x, so ignoring those...
- The first 9 of your crashes are [@ PR_StringToNetAddr ]
- The 1 remaining one is [@ PrxDrvPE.dll@0x2208 ]

The latter implies you are using Proxifier, is this the case?

Can you test with it disabled and see if the crashes still occur please.

Moving to NSPR given [@ PR_StringToNetAddr ] http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-2.0/annotate/6be9e31d01b4/nsprpub/pr/src/misc/prnetdb.c#l2258

That last crash is [@ ssl_DefClose ] http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-2.0/annotate/6be9e31d01b4/security/nss/lib/ssl/ssldef.c#l231

Did you mean to set as worksforme? Has the problem gone away?

Problem resolved temporarily by itself. Back again.
Does uninstalling Proxifier completely help?
Do you have anything else like Proxifier installed?
Uninstalling proxifier makes it a little better but doesnt completely resolve it. Besides I am compelled to use proxifier to bypass cyberroam(blocks almost all sites).
No other proxy software installed
OS: Windows 7 → Windows XP
Proxifier has a new 3RC version available, perhaps try that?
Reporter, please can you confirm whether this issue still occurs using Firefox 4.0.1 (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/new/) or higher, in Firefox safe mode (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode) and/or with a clean profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile). Ideally, also check using the latest nightly: http://nightly.mozilla.org/

If this issue no longer occurs, please close as "Resolved Worksforme".

It it in fact still occurs, please provide as much extra information as possible, including what versions tried, whether safe mode/new profile tested etc. Thanks! :-)

(Template reply to inactive UNCO bugs)
1 Extremely few crashes (2-3) in past month with firefox. None since I updated to 4.0.1 Note: I've stopped using Proxifier
2 However when working multiple tabs (more than 30) it often halts/hangs for sometime especially when Syncing with Firefox Sync, if I try to tinker anymore during during that time( clicking on the window or address bar etc.) it crashes spontaneously.
3 Since I just have to wait for 30-40 secs when it hangs its no longer pestering me much and works fine for me
