I don't think this is a Windows 7 issue, but it might be...on Win7 x64 with Firefox 4.0 installed, right after I delete the desktop shortcut that is automatically created during install, the Firefox icon disappears from everything (Start menu, the EXE in Program Files(x86), taskbar, etc.) If I restore the trashed desktop shortcut, the icon comes back.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Firefox 4 on Windows 7 x64 SP0
2. Delete the desktop shortcut
3. Launch/close Firefox (possibly a few times)
Actual Results:
Eventually you should see that the icon disappears
Expected Results:
The icon should remain linked to all shortcuts for the program.

Unable to reproduce. I've don't this several times over the Firefox 4 release cycle on Windows 7 x64 and have never experienced this. There have also been no other bug reports of this happening so I suspect it will be very hard to reproduce to figure out what is going on in your case.

Hi Robert,
OK. I see if I can narrow down a workflow to repro this and capture it in a video. Can files be attached here?

Written steps would be much preferred over a video.

Hi Robert,
Go ahead and close this as NR. I think the issue might be related to an incompatibility with Folder Menu (http://foldermenu.sourceforge.net/). I use this so much I forget it's not part of Windows.
Thanks.

Just as an FYI, see the two images I've attached. Everything was OK for the past hour or so (didn't even have Firefox running). Just noticed now that the icon is gone again. If I reinstall that fixes things temporarily. I have seen similar problems with other applications on my machine but their icons come back at some point. The Firefox one doesn't for some reason. Anyways, there's probably a complex/convoluted workflow to repro this. If I can ever nail it down I'll open up a new bug report.
