Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

I can not scroll on webpages using the build in scrollpad on my notebook (HP 8540p)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start browser
2. load webpage
3. try to scroll
Actual Results:
I cant scroll

Expected Results:
I should be able to scroll
Which manufacture, Synaptics ?
(bug 622410)
yes it is synaptics.
It is rather irritating that I cant use my touchpad to scroll on webpages.
It works fine in all other browsers tough (opera, IE, ...)

The mouse icon does change when I try to scroll using my touchpad, but nothing happens
marking as dupe of bug 622410
There is no standard windows API for mouse scrolling. We had to change the window structure for Firefox4 and the mouse driver now fails with scrolling.
This can be fixed with an updated synaptics driver AFAIK but i don't know if such an update is currently available.

I noticed something very very strange today.

When I connect an external USB mouse to my laptop (logitech), restart Firefox, scrolling with my touchpad WORKS!!!!! (and scrolling with the mouse itself as well).

When I unplug the mouse (but keep my browser open) it still keeps working (I still can scroll with my touchpad).

However, when I restart Firefox (and leave the mouse unconnected), my touchpad doesn't work anymore.

So a workaround to enable touchpad scrolling: connect mouse -> start firefox -> disconnect mouse -> touchpad scrolling keeps working -> restart firefox -> touchpad scrolling does not work anymore.

yet another strange thing noticed:

When I load a webpage on my primairy Firefox window, I can not scroll using my touchpad. HOWEVER, when I drag the tab containing my website to the desktop, so it opens in a NEW WINDOW, it DOES WORK (I can scroll then).

How on earth...
As already said, this is a duplicate, please close it.
