User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
When 'hardware acceleration' under Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General is selected to be on (which it is by default with Firefox 4, apparently), then fonts for most websites drop to a generic default. When 'hardware acceleration' is de-selected, the fonts on these websites show up properly but videos on Flash-based sites like YouTube no longer play correctly; they load and play for 9 to 12 seconds then stop and get stuck in 'loading' indefinitely. The only way to get the video to play is to shut down Firefox completely then restart it. The video will then play but if a second video is played after this, it stops after 9-12 seconds and the cycle starts again.
In other words, right now there is a choice between being able to use Firefox to see videos on places like YouTube, or being able to see correct fonts on websites.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Un-check hardware acceleration.
2. Go to YouTube.
3. Play a video.
4. Play another video. Problem encountered.
Actual Results:
The video in step 4 loads and plays fine until approximately 9 to 15 seconds in, and then it stops and uses the rotating loading icon indefinitely.
Expected Results:
It should play the videos all the way through without necessitating the closure and restarting of the Firefox browser.
This problem IS solved by enabling 'hardware acceleration' but when this is done, fonts are NOT read correctly on websites. By this, I mean that if a site states the font should be in Copperplate Gothic Bold, it should display Copperplate Gothic Bold--not Times New Roman.

*Note: can you be more clear on the steps to reproduce (example videos) and, if possible, attach some screenshots of the issue?
