User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

I looked up a picture on google, of a Ocelot. When a satisfactory image was found and a picture displayed, I right clicked on the image and chose to save image as, which would have triggered a save as "download sort instance" (downsort 2-5-8) installed and reported compatible. No download window triggered and no download went through. I had to use copy image , and fire up irfanview, to paste the image from the clipboard into that application - then save it.
Further other extensions also will not work.
I may revert to version 3 (or go to a competitor.
This is a case where not enough research went into the upgrade revision.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log onto google website.
2.Look up any favorite image
3.If the image selected comes up with a page or magazine background, the save image as will most likely not function
Actual Results:
1. Displayed image as above.
2. Chose to "save image as" with download sort installed
3. No download window started and no download took place

Expected Results:
Download of image should have started with the save as box displayed.

 Avast antimalware installed on system.
 Other extensions:
      Adblock plus 1.3.3
      Download Sort 2.5.8
      DownloadHelper 4.8.4
      Flashgot 1.2.8.5
      Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.5
      Download Accelerator Plus 9.5.0.0 (Disabled)

Works for me on:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

*Note: Can you reproduce this issue on a clean firefox profile
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles
OR in safe mode:

Some/one of the extensions installed may block this ("save image") functionality.

Did a clean install with the following addons:
DownloadHelper, Flashgot, DAP (with extension disabled), Tab Mix Plus, Add Bookmark here, adblock plus (easylist). On the same site with DAP extension - and no flashgot - I cannot send a picture file through DAP - There seems to be some instances where some extensions will not fire from the 'context menu' even though the item is on the list. I'll try to use the DLsort and see if the save as works.
One thing I noticed is that the "save as" will work when no DL aids are activated/present.
Also once in a while the Google toolbar (Full) loses what I configured in it, and I have to logout, then log back in to restore the settings. It is like something blocks it.
Will post some images of what happens when the sorter is installed.
Please can you disable addons one at a time to find out which is causing the problem.
Saving an image works for me. I have no addons.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Please try with an additional download manager and an extension to fire that. Most notable are DAP with its extension. I used that in this case. When used in a clean install twice, The "Save as" and the 'download sort' would not trigger and no images could be saved. I would like to be able to use that again to save single pictures. Until then, I now use "Image download II" which does work with DAP/Flashgot or the custom DAP extension installed without the problem.
One more quirk as I have tried this here again. When you have a file type set to go through the extension "download sort" nothing happens off the context menu. You cannot save web pages from context menu either. It sounds like a security issue. Basically I am ready to give up.
I have tried removing all of the extensions (except Roboform) and still could not get the DS to run from context - neither for a pdf, html or image file.
I consider this closed. I found the real issue was that DAP extension steal all downloading extensions focus. When using DAP you cannot use any other sorting extensions. I currently use downlodhelper to download video from youtube, and it works fine. For all else, I use DAP with its extension, an it works fine for all but msi files
Thanks for the update.

Marking this as invalid, since not a bug with Firefox itself. Please contact the author of the addon for a fix (or use the alternative addon).

Thanks! :-)
