After "Private Browsing" my bookmarks are lost. There are nothing on the panel. I've tried to restore them - no effect. Strange thing, when I export them to JSON, I can see them inside the file. So they are still persist but are not visible/usable. And I can't do anything with bookmarks bar (e.g. add new bookmarks).

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start private browsing.
2. Go to some website.
3. Close private browsing.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.2a1pre) Gecko/20110329 Firefox/4.2a1pre

Works fine for me. Please try if you can reproduce it or if it works fine

1.in safe mode.

2.or by creating a new profile

I've done some tests and found that source of the problem was in places.sqlite.
If I delete this file, all works fine (but I loose my history...). But I gave this file to MAC OS user with FF and there it worked fine. I just synced it back.

I'll try to reproduce it in few days.
places.sqlite has nothing to do with the issue, it's the file that contains your bookmarks and history.
Most likely you have an add-on that causes bookmarks to disappear from the UI.
Nope. There were no changes in addons. I've rechecked it in first place. Nothing that can harm this.

If i delete places.sqlite and start Firefox again problem seems resolved - I can add new bookmarks, import/export them, etc. With old one I can do nothing.
I don't know what caused corruption (but other PC was able to use this file).

Ok, as I said earlier, I will try to reproduce it and report.
So, in safe mode, as requested in comment 1, you CAN reproduce the bug?
In first comment you suggest me to create new profile. I can say definitely that it will resolve problem since it will be new profile directory and new places.sqlite and all other files.

Now my profile is alright (comment 2) and I can't reproduce it now.
Case may be closed.
